Internal plasticization of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) using thermal azide‐alkyne Huisgen dipolar cycloaddition between azidized PVC and electron‐poor acetylenediamides incorporating a branched glutamic acid linker resulted in incorporation of four plasticizing moieties per attachment point on the polymer chain. A systematic study incorporating either alkyl or polyethylene glycol esters provided materials with varying degrees of plasticization, with depressed Tg values ranging from ?1 °C to 62 °C. Three interesting trends were observed. First, Tg values of PVC bearing various internal plasticizers were shown to decrease with increasing chain length of the plasticizing ester. Second, branched internal plasticizers bearing triethylene glycol chains had lower Tg values compared to those with similar length long‐chain alkyl groups. Finally, thermogravimetric analysis of these internally plasticized PVC samples revealed that these branched internal plasticizers bearing alkyl chains are more thermally stable than similarity branched plasticizers bearing triethylene glycol units. The chemical functionalization of carbon nanotubes is often a prerequisite prior to their use in various applications. The covalent grafting of 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (BPin) functional groups directly on the surface of multi- and single-walled carbon nanotubes, activated by nucleophilic addition of nBuLi, was carried out. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) coupled with mass spectrometry, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and time-of-flight secondary ions mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) confirmed the efficiency of this methodology and proved the integrity and covalent grafting of the BPin functional groups. These groups were further reacted with various nucleophiles in the presence of a copper(II) source in the conditions of the aerobic Chan–Lam–Evans coupling. The resulting materials were characterized by TGA, XPS and ToF-SIMS. This route is efficient, reliable and among the scarce reactions that enable the direct grafting of heteroatoms at carbonaceous material surfaces.  相似文献

A recent article in Nature Physics unified key results from thermodynamics, statistics, and information theory. The unification arose from a general equation for the rate of change in the information content of a system. The general equation describes the change in the moments of an observable quantity over a probability distribution. One term in the equation describes the change in the probability distribution. The other term describes the change in the observable values for a given state. We show the equivalence of this general equation for moment dynamics with the widely known Price equation from evolutionary theory, named after George Price. We introduce the Price equation from its biological roots, review a mathematically abstract form of the equation, and discuss the potential for this equation to unify diverse mathematical theories from different disciplines. The new work in Nature Physics and many applications in biology show that this equation also provides the basis for deriving many novel theoretical results within each discipline.  相似文献

This systematic review and meta-analysis examined recent articles that have used the 1995 Draw-A-Scientist Checklist (DAST-C). This study was focused on the current state of students' stereotypes of scientists and the appropriateness of the DAST-C as a tool to assess these perceptions. Articles included in the review were published between 2003 and 2018, resulting in n = 30 studies. Mean results across studies are presented to describe current stereotypes of scientists, and the current format of the DAST-C is evaluated. Findings suggest that students' perceptions of scientists have largely remained consistent across time: scientists are still perceived as Caucasian, middle-aged or elderly males who wear lab coats and work indoors. However, while the DAST-C is a generally appropriate measure to assess students' perceptions of scientists, recommended revisions to the DAST-C could assist in capturing more modern scientist stereotypes and culturally bound perceptions of scientists.  相似文献

This study brings together the research focused on science education through project-based learning (PBL). This learning project was carried out in a rural learning community and an attempt was made to adapt to the natural resources of the area by organizing educational outings, experimental activities, and encouraging the participation of families. The overall objective is to test the effectiveness of applying the PBL teaching methodology for learning science in a rural learning community. The methodology used has been qualitative, specifically, the participating research has been used and the information has been compiled in a field notebook. The results show that the didactic proposal had good results; showing that, in conclusion, science teaching today should be inclined toward more innovative educational methodologies such as PBL.  相似文献
